If you have supported Australians’ History Project in the past, we have the contact information we collected when you made your last donation. This database does not contain financial information. Australians’ History Project only collects and stores personal information while you make a donation.
In order to process your donation, we need to obtain personal information about you. This may include:
- your name and contact details;
- your credit card details (for a maximum of 10 days) or other payment details; and
- any other information that we consider necessary.
We do not use tracking cookies on this web site. Rather, the information we collect is only linked to the personal information that you provide at the time of making a donation for the purposes of non-repudiation. Links from banner advertisements are counted to measure effectiveness of ad placements, but are not linked to your personal information.
The information that you voluntarily supply when making a donation will be used invite you to donate to future Australians’ History Project campaigns. You may refuse such contact by telephoning [insert phone number] or by writing to the address below.
How your personal information is held
We will seek to ensure that we take all reasonable steps to ensure that your personal information is protected from misuse and from unauthorised access and disclosure.
We will also take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify personal information that we no longer need for any purpose for which may be used or disclosed under the National Privacy Principles.
Disclosure
Your information may be accessed, as necessary, by contracted service providers for the limited purpose of allowing such service providers to assist us in the administration of Australians’ History Project. Your personal information will not shared with other organisations, unless we are compelled to do so by law. We do not sell, trade or lease our donor information.
Disposal of credit card information
Credit card information is retained for 10 days maximum. It is then erased from our database. Your contact information is retained for the purposes set out above.

Transactions with the server are protected via SSL encryption. Credit card information is stored on the server in an encrypted format. The server is secured from intrusion both physically and from the internet. We have made all reasonable efforts to protect the privacy of your personal information.
